About this event
Level: Beginner/Intermediate Temperature: 95 degrees Dharma yoga begins with vinyasa flows to warm up the body, bring flexibility to muscles and joints and wake up the nervous system. The second section of class includes longer held balancing, twisting, backbending and inverted postures. The practice ends with deep relaxation, breathing exercises and meditation. The whole practice is designed to leave students with a sense of physical well-being and peace of mind. This class is suitable for beginners while also providing opportunities for those who have been practicing yoga for some time to explore variations and deepen their practice. Dharma Yoga is a classical Hatha-Raja yoga practice, systematized for modern life by Dharma Mittra during intense study over the last 50 years. The practice is designed to bring the practitioner good health, a clear mind, and a kind heart. The Dharma Yoga method weaves together many teachings in order to bring all students closer to the goal of Self-realization. With consistent practice one will gain control of the body, control of the breath, and eventually control of the mind. Yoga is the settling of the mind into silence, and just as a still lake reflects accurately the beauty of the world around it, so too can the still mind accurately reflect the beauty of the Self.
