- ➤ The Troy Turkey Trot raised a record $40,000 for Regional Food Bank and Joseph’s House and Shelter in Troy yesterday after nearly 7,500 participants ran and walked in its 110th annual event. The historic trot continues to support local efforts against food insecurity and homelessness. WRGB

- ➤ The Silver Parrot, a boutique in business for 41 years at Stuyvesant Plaza, will close Feb. 28 as owner Clint Hegeman retires. The store offers 20% off its contents before closing. Times Union
- ➤ The Hollow owners Dora and Michael Philip finalized the $2.85 million acquisition of Ravenswood Pub in Clifton Park on Dec. 31 and plan to retain staff and current menu while adding vegan options and improving operations in the coming months. Times Union

- ➤ Vasi Aviation opened a new flight school in Albany offering pilot training and in-house aircraft maintenance. The program starts with a one-hour introductory flight (providing hands-on experience) for aspiring pilots. WRGB
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ New York lawmakers have introduced a proposal that requires teaching the January 6 event in public school curriculums; it calls for collaboration with the Board of Regents + local boards and must be approved by Dec. 2026. WRGB
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ A Latham man has been smoke-free for 8 months after calling the NYS Quitline (a state program that provided him nicotine patches and gum) to quit smoking for the sake of his children. His success comes after repeated struggles with addiction and a strong desire to protect his family. WAMC
- ➤ Community pediatrician Dr. James Saperstone of Community Care Pediatrics in Guilderland said that amid a record flu season with over 71,000 cases and 4,500 hospitalizations in one week, antivirals like Tamiflu are mainly reserved for high-risk children — most healthy kids recover with rest and home care. - ➤ The New York State Health Department said on Tuesday that child vaccination and school immunization guidelines will remain unchanged despite the CDC cutting its list of recommended vaccines. Health Commissioner Dr. James McDonald said no new safety data was presented, and vaccine access will continue as usual. WRGB
