COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Albany County GOP Chairman Jim McGaughan started a petition to revive the Holiday Capital Lights in the Park at Washington Park. The event ended in 2021 and would return as a fundraiser for the PAL if the city supports updates (infrastructure and operations).  WRGB
  • For the first time, men can join the long-running women’s run virtually, helping support a race that promotes women’s sports and healthy eating. The event draws around 3,000 participants downtown and offers a 10-week training program beginning (Mar. 23) with the race set for May 30.  WAMC

CULTURE NEWS

  • SUNY physics professor Kevin Knuth joined WAMC to discuss UAP topics with host Ray Graf — local listeners were invited to participate by calling 1-800-348-2551.  WAMC
  • Stephen Lang (Slang) recalled his intense 2007 audition for Avatar and his daily workout in his Kinderhook home while praising James Cameron and expressing hope for further sequels in a recent interview. His Avatar film remains the top movie in the U.S.  Times Union

ECONOMY NEWS

  • An analysis revealed that in 2024, Albany International Airport's top routes were to Chicago, Washington and Baltimore, with seasonal flights to Philadelphia, Orlando and Detroit also significant. More than 1.5 million passengers flew then (data shows seasonal shifts in route frequency).  Times Union
