  • Author and social critic James Howard Kunstler will talk about his new novel Look I’m Gone at Northshire Bookstore in Saratoga Springs on Thursday, Jan. 15 at 6 p.m.—the coming-of-age tale is set in November 1963 and marks a pivotal moment of lost innocence.  WAMC
  • After six months of work, The Egg reveals its revamped space with new seating, carpeting, and a fully automated LED lighting system. Governor Hochul will deliver her State of the State address at Hart Theater on Jan. 14 — a fitting celebration of the upgrade.  WRGB

  • Retired New York State Police Sgt. Michael L. Piro, who worked at the World Trade Center site after 9/11, died Tuesday at age 63 from a related illness — he served for 29 years with his final assignment in Troop L.  WRGB

  • The University at Albany women's lacrosse program announced today that it hired Shonly Wallace as assistant coach for the 2026 season — Wallace brings experience from Dartmouth College and as the first female NLL scout to help the Great Danes prepare for upcoming games.  University at Albany
