- ➤ Three Capital Region shelter dogs (Gazpacho, Jodi, and Buck) that found new homes at Mohawk Hudson Humane Society will appear in the nationally televised Puppy Bowl XXII on Sunday at 2 p.m., marking the humane society’s first invitation to the event. Times Union
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Fire crews responded to a grease fire at Texas Roadhouse in Colonie on Thursday, Feb. 5, closing Sand Creek + Wolf Rd and launching an ongoing investigation; no injuries were reported. WRGB
- ➤ A water main break on Amsterdam St. between Hampton and Hendrick in Menands caused significant ice formation in the streets and sidewalks, prompting crews to repair the pipe — the Department of Public Works is clearing the ice. WRGB

- ➤ The Book House, a 50-year-old woman-owned bookstore, is moving to a new space within Stuyvesant Plaza and will reopen on Feb. 10 after volunteers formed a Book Brigade to transfer books (the new 4,000 sqft store occupies its former spot) with a spring celebration planned. Times Union

- ➤ Troy firefighters were promoted to lieutenant on Thursday (Matthew Kent and Aleksandr Katko) as part of the department’s effort to reach full staffing; one position remains open while a new fire engine and water pumper are set to arrive by late February or early March. WRGB
- ➤ Gov. Kathy Hochul detailed Phase 1 of the New York State Museum transformation, backed by $150 million, during a tour of the Albany facility on Feb. 5 — a state task force will manage the next steps. WAMC
- ➤ A boil water advisory remains in effect from I-90 south to Partition Street in Rensselaer after a water main break was repaired and water pressure was restored. Residents must boil water until further notice, according to the Department of Public Works (DPW). WRGB

- ➤ The University at Albany men's basketball team rallied late to win 65 to 63 against Bryant at Chace Athletic Center in Smithfield, R.I. — Jaden Kempson's go-ahead bucket sealed the win, and the team will face UMass Lowell at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. University at Albany
- ➤ UAlbany women's basketball fought hard at Broadview Center on Thursday afternoon, cutting the deficit with four fourth-quarter threes but ultimately losing 50-44 to Bryant (record now 12-11) as junior Lara Langermann led with 12 points.
