- ➤ Valentine's Day Weekend, the Albany Symphony Orchestra will perform at Troy Savings Bank Music Hall with shows on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday at 3 p.m. featuring a varied program of Tchaikovsky, Mahler, a new world premiere, Schumann, and soloists John Brancy (baritone) and Kara Dugan (mezzo-soprano). EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Students from more than 100 independent schools and colleges rallied in Albany yesterday at the Legislative Office Building for Student Aid Advocacy Day. The students and education advocates pressed Gov. Hochul to increase state student aid funding to assist nearly 500,000 students. WRGB
- ➤ On Feb. 1, four local scouts from Troop 58 earned the Eagle Scout rank during a joint Court of Honor ceremony in Delmar — a rare milestone for the group. Spotlight News

- ➤ The Brunswick Planning Board is reviewing a proposal by Paramount Building Group to build 18 homes and excavate 420,000 cubic yards (sediment removal) near Spring Avenue and Creek Road as neighbors voice concerns over increased truck traffic and road strain. Times Union
- ➤ After a January snowstorm, Albany residents raised concerns about poor communication and narrow sidewalks during a Tuesday night discussion with city officials. Officials will review suggestions such as improved signage and alert systems to enhance future storm responses. WRGB
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Gov. Hochul announced that the state health department joined the WHO Global Outbreak Alert and Response Network to boost outbreak detection and lab support. State officials say the partnership will enhance local and international public health preparedness and offer earlier access to global outbreak intelligence. WRGB
