  • The Kelly's Angels Mother-Lovin' 5K is planned for Mother's Day at Saratoga Spa State Park and offers a free Ultimate Car Wash with pre-registration from Hoffman Car Wash. The race funds support for children who have lost a parent to cancer.  NewsChannel 13
  • Green Island residents faced another power outage today as some homes were without power for over 10 hours and indoor temperatures fell near 43°F (raising safety concerns for vulnerable residents). The local power authority will work on repairs to improve service reliability.  WRGB

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Neurodivergent children in Albany are learning the art of curling as part of a local program while the Winter Olympic Games continue overseas. The hands-on activity gives the kids a new way to engage with sports.  WRGB

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Cohoes officials announced a vacant storefront registry that will charge property owners if a commercial space remains empty for more than 120 days (no fee during the first year if actively marketing, with fines rising to $500 and $1,000 later) to boost downtown activity.  WRGB

  • On Thursday, the Albany Common Council honored Basketball Hall of Fame inductees as it celebrated the city’s rich basketball history and acknowledged the challenges players of color faced.  WRGB
  • Today the UAlbany women's golf team starts its 2025-26 spring season by competing in the Space Coast Classic at Duran Golf Club (Melbourne, Fla.), which runs until Sunday, Feb. 22. The team has five events on its schedule, including a first-time trip to Bermuda.  University at Albany
  • Jack Grogan, a veteran basketball referee set to retire after 35 years, and his daughter Jessica officiated a boys varsity game together in Section Two, fulfilling their bucket list dream + making history as the first father-daughter duo to work a game in New York.  NewsChannel 13
