EDUCATION NEWS

  • The University at Albany Honors College offers a course titled TUNI250 (Bad Bunny and Reggaetón as Resistance to Neocolonialism) that examines the artist’s impact on Puerto Rican culture and social resistance. Lecturer Sherez Mohamed leads students as they connect pop culture to long-standing issues.  University at Albany
  • Vasi Aviation launched a new flight school in Albany that offers professional pilot training for beginners and experienced flyers. Students learn aircraft operations and safety procedures, including an auto landing button (which helps the plane land itself) and auto fuel switching.  WRGB
  • Jim Hendler led an artificial intelligence class at RPI yesterday, hosted by Ray Graf, and introduced local audiences to new data science ideas.  WAMC

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • City leaders in Cohoes have proposed a new policy that creates a registry for vacant storefronts, with owners facing a $50 daily fine after 120 days if their property is not actively marketed, and the Common Council will discuss the proposal tonight at 7 p.m. at City Hall.  NewsChannel 13
  • Fulton Street in Troy is closed today for water main repairs & crews have shut off water to the area.  WRGB
