- ➤ Two Capital Region men (Dershaun Nicholas of Troy and Stephon Pierre of Slingerlands) were arrested when state police stopped a Honda CRV near the Thruway in Cornwall at 10:47 p.m. Wednesday and found over three ounces of crack cocaine in the vehicle, and they face charges as they await a preliminary hearing set for Tuesday. - ➤ An interagency operation — led by state and local police — returned 63 missing children and teens reported as runaways in the Capital Region after a three-day effort from a command center at a Latham motel. WAMC
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The Roman Catholic Diocese of Albany announced it will close All Saints Catholic Academy due to more than $1 million in debt and needed building repairs; Mater Christi will remain open for pre-K to 8th grade while Blessed Sacrament transitions to a pre-K to 5th grade program—leaving parents and students heartbroken. The decision came after parents pleaded to keep the school open and has raised concerns about the future of local Catholic education. WRGB

- ➤ Nine-year-old Killian Polarolo lost months of mobility after his wheelchair's foot bracket failed in July; his mother said delays in repair left him without proper support. On Friday, Senator Jake Ashby introduced Killian's Law—aimed at speeding up repairs by requiring them to be finished within ten days and extending manufacturer warranties by one year—to help prevent similar hardships.
