- ➤ City officials, community leaders and firefighters removed Red X signs Tuesday from four vacant Troy buildings as part of the Troy Community Land Bank efforts to stabilize and ready them for new use. - ➤ Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences has announced a new nursing program that will begin in Fall 2025 in partnership with St. Peter’s Health Partners; students will earn an Associate of Science degree after three years and then complete a hybrid final year for a Bachelor of Science degree — the program prepares graduates to take the RN licensing exam. - ➤ An Albany County judge has paused demolition contract talks for the Central Warehouse after Jackson Demolition Service filed suit alleging the Advance Albany County Alliance Board broke public bidding laws — the judge gave a month for the board and its contractors to present their arguments. The bidding process started in October 2024 when the board received seven bids, and the lawsuit claims the accepted bid was over half a million dollars higher than Jackson Demolition’s offer. WRGB
- ➤ Albany groups are urging the Legislature during Sunshine Week to strengthen the Freedom of Information Law to boost government transparency. The bills would require state agencies to report FOIL requests to the Committee on Open Government and ensure records are provided within 60 days—while the Assembly passed the package, the Senate has not yet acted.
