- ➤ A church in Mechanicville held a prom dress and suit giveaway on Saturday so that students could attend prom with proper attire—donated clothes from the community ensured no student was left out. The church accepts donations year-round and will host another giveaway on April 26. NewsChannel 13
- ➤ Families visited the Easter Bunny who returned at Colonie Center on Saturday at 11 a.m. outside Macy’s, where children received small gifts and can join upcoming events such as a Sensitive Bunny event on April 6th and an Easter Egg Hunt on April 12th. The bunny also appeared at Crossgates Mall in Guilderland on March 8, where photo packages and giveaways are available. ABC NEWS 10
- ➤ Guilderland Chamber's Ladies Night Out will take place on April 9 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Albany Country Club in Voorheesville—partial proceeds will benefit A Night Out for You to support adults undergoing cancer treatment. WRGB
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Saturday morning, firefighters responded to a call just after 8:15 a.m. for a fire between the second floor and attic at 241 Northern Boulevard that affected two households in Albany, controlled the fire in under 25 minutes, and the American Red Cross helped seven people (all displaced) with no injuries reported. - ➤ Jordan A. Salas, a Clifton Park man, was charged Friday evening with a felony for stealing a marked Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office patrol vehicle left running behind the Halfmoon substation at about 11:00 p.m.—the vehicle was located in Kingston an hour later by the New York State Police using GPS tracking. - ➤ Bethlehem and Columbia County officers arrested five people after a theft at CVS on Delaware Ave on March 14—other arrests include a Delmar driver for DWI on March 13, a woman suspected of DWI after a welfare check on March 11, a man who failed to appear in court for a Lowe’s theft on March 14, a repeat offender for burglarizing Glenmont’s Walmart on March 15, and a man for a DWI stop on River Road on March 18, with all suspects set to return to court on April 1. - ➤ Albany County is proposing to sell its Probation Department building at 60 S. Pearl St. for nearly $1.5 million to developers Liberty Park Development—lawmakers have tabled the request until the county finalizes a new location for the agency. Times Union
- ➤ Governor Kathy Hochul and state lawmakers have not reached a budget agreement as the fiscal year will start Tuesday amid concerns about federal funding cuts. The governor plans to include policy changes in the spending plan— a topic still under negotiation. WAMC
- ➤ FBI Albany helped ICE during a week-long operation to remove dangerous criminals from local communities — the office provided many resources to support the effort. WRGB
