COMMUNITY NEWS

  • On March 30, thousands joined No Kings rallies across the region, including a major gathering on Broadway in Saratoga Springs organized by Indivisible ADK/Saratoga. Local residents exchanged views on community issues + connected to make their voices heard.  WAMC

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Saxbys and UAlbany partner to launch a student-led café offering hands-on business learning at the Massry School of Business. The venue will open Sept. 3 to serve signature drinks & food while students take on leadership roles.  University at Albany
  • Centennial Hall on the former St. Rose campus was turned over to UAlbany on Monday, Mar. 30, and the $12 million building is set to house upper-level students for fall *with a waiting list* already in place.  NewsChannel 13

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • New York State awarded more than $5 million to fund 51 invasive species projects across the state. The grants supported boat steward programs in Tupper Lake and research at local universities — including projects to restore native aquatic vegetation and improve detection methods.  WAMC

SPORTS NEWS

  • Mya Carroll from UAlbany women's lacrosse was named America East Rookie of the Week for the fourth time after scoring six points (three goals, three assists) against Syracuse and Binghamton. Her play boosted the Great Danes' performance in America East standings.  University at Albany
  • UAlbany athletics are set to host a busy week at home, starting with a softball doubleheader tomorrow (at UAlbany Field), followed by a three-game baseball series (at Varsity Field) and a men's lacrosse contest on Saturday (at Tom & Mary Casey Stadium) against Binghamton.  University at Albany
  • Brady Smith was named America East Goalkeeper of the Week on Monday after making 13 saves in UAlbany’s win over UMass Lowell last Saturday—his first weekly honor this season. The Great Danes will return home on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. to face Binghamton at Tom and Mary Casey Stadium.  University at Albany
