- ➤ Representatives from the Out of the Pits dog rescue worked this morning to find furever homes for pit bulls in the capital region—aiming to change how people see these dogs. They hope new families will offer safe care—continuing their effort to build lasting bonds. WRGB
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ 31-year-old Olonjadae Rouse pleaded guilty to assault in the First Degree for a razor attack on March 4 that cut his victim's head, face, and neck and required hospital care—his sentencing is scheduled for May 30. WRGB
- ➤ Fifteen-year-old Chanel Sego has been missing since March 24 after being last seen near Academy Road plus Helderberg in Albany, and police are urging anyone with information to come forward. WRGB
ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ Plug Power, Inc. announced plans to lay off 261 workers on June 23 due to economic reasons—180 from the Slingerlands site, 79 from the Latham location, and 2 from the Clifton Park site. The affected employees are not union-represented and local workforce boards will help them transition. WRGB

- ➤ On March 26, the University at Albany Student Association held a presidential forum (featuring candidates Jaden Gabb and Senator Marcos Perez, Senator Trevor Pettit and Allison Mitchell, Senator Aaron Mattupurath and Senator Ryan Goldstein) where they outlined plans to boost student safety, increase campus engagement and manage the budget ahead of voting opening March 31 at noon. - ➤ L. Oliver Robinson, Shenendehowa's longtime superintendent, will retire at the end of the school year after nearly 20 years at the helm. He said he will focus on family and take a break — his leadership kept the district running through the 2008 financial crisis and the COVID-19 shutdown. Times Union
