- ➤ On April 5, the New York State Museum will host the 22nd Annual Missing Persons Day to honor missing individuals and support families—organized by Mary Lyall's Center for Hope. - ➤ A girl aged 15 from Albany was reported missing, with her disappearance first reported on March 24 and her last seen location in the area (Academy Road and Helderberg Avenue), and anyone with information is urged to call the Albany Police Department (5184585660). ABC NEWS 10
- ➤ A Watervliet man—Jahnye Griffin, 21—was indicted on six charges including second-degree attempted murder and first-degree assault after allegedly meeting and attacking a man in Lansingburgh on March 24; he was held without bail and faces up to 25 years if convicted. ABC NEWS 10
- ➤ Marcus Cooper—39 from Albany—is facing rape, sexual abuse and sexual misconduct charges after forensic evidence linked him to a December 13 sexual assault in Troy; he turned himself in on March 25 at the Troy Police Department. WRGB
- ➤ State police arrested 32 year old Matthew D. Sowycz on March 26 after he unlawfully entered an East Greenbush business and used employee identities to access company computers—he was charged with burglary, identity theft and computer trespass—and later released with an appearance ticket for Town Court. - ➤ UAlbany student Dayo Ogundimu will showcase his MPH work on health equity at UAlbany Showcase on April 30—he plans to present survey results from his internship at Schenectady City Mission and outline how his background in biomedical sciences and public health will guide his future in medical school in 2026. - ➤ UAlbany’s Departments of English and Languages, Literatures and Cultures host the 7th annual Living in Languages Colloquium today and tomorrow via Zoom and in person; panelists will discuss translation, language and identity in various contexts. - ➤ A federal judge has delayed the switch from the Consumer Directed Personal Assistance Program to Public Partnerships Limited for some homecare agencies until Friday—this decision comes even as the transition was set for today and nearly 255,000 consumers have taken action since it began on January 6. - ➤ Albany County Legislature said applications are now open for the Summer Youth Employment Program which gives internships to local high school and college students aged 17 to 21. Applicants must complete interviews, orientation steps, and if under 18, secure working papers before the April 30 deadline at 4 p.m.—all details are available online or by mail. WRGB
- ➤ On Monday evening, Hoosick Falls turned on a new water supply after PFAS contamination was found over a decade ago — a step that followed years of state investigations, legal battles and cleanup work.
