  • John W. Walker, a 42-year-old parolee from Schenectady, was arrested Wednesday morning and charged with assault, criminal obstruction of breathing, and forcible touching after he reportedly followed a woman off a CDTA bus around 7:20 p.m. Monday near Central Avenue and Quail Street and then attacked her in a rear yard on Washington Avenue, injuring her face—police said.  NewsChannel 13

CULTURE NEWS

  • Charles Gehring, 86, retired last week after 50 years translating 17th-century Dutch documents that detailed colonial life in Albany—his work has helped historians better understand the city's origins, and he will volunteer on Tuesdays to assist his successor Chelsea Teale.
