CULTURE NEWS

  • Denver-based band Squeaky Feet will perform at Lark Hall in Albany on Wednesday with support from Saratoga Springs-based Nymbis & deliver a mix of prog fusion and jam tunes for an exciting live show.  WAMC
  • Local author Marisa Renee Lee releases her new book Waiting for Dawn (Living with Uncertainty), recounting her experience with grief, illness and loss and emphasizing that asking for help can be powerful. It is available now wherever books are sold.  NewsChannel 13
  • Grammy Award-winning Josh Kaufman, a Hudson Valley-based record producer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, discussed his career on WAMC, highlighting his work with Taylor Swift & Bob Weir during his tour with Bonny Light Horseman. He has produced award-winning albums and collaborated widely in folk, rock and roots music.  WAMC
  • The Barry Manilow concert scheduled for April 20 at MVP Arena has been postponed due to doctor's orders. Ticket holders will have their tickets honored for the new date, which organizers will announce later (rescheduled event).  WRGB

EDUCATION NEWS

  • AT&T opened a Connected Learning Center at Albany PAL today that gives students free internet, computers and digital literacy courses (backed by a $47,000 investment) and marks the first such center locally and the 14th statewide.  WRGB
  • At a campus watch party Friday night, students and faculty celebrated RPI alum Reid Wiseman’s role in the Artemis II mission and lead engineer Tobias Langener’s work guiding the Orion capsule safely into Earth’s atmosphere — a proud milestone for the Capital Region.  WRGB

  • The University at Albany baseball team lost its series opener to Bryant 15-5 Friday afternoon at Conaty Park (Smithfield, R.I.) and will meet Bryant today at 1:00 p.m. to continue the three-game series.  University at Albany
