  • A twin-engine Mitsubishi MU-2B crashed into a muddy field near Copake on April 12th, killing all six passengers — investigators from the NTSB and local officials are examining the scene.  WRGB

  • Meyers Funeral Home in Delmar remains family-owned as it continues to serve local families despite a growing trend toward corporate ownership in the funeral industry.   • 16-year-old Seamus McWatters, a high school junior in the BOCES Automotive Collision Technology program on the Albany Campus, started his first auto body repair job at Goldstein Collision Center in Colonie after logging 35 work-based learning hours during February break—he said hands-on work helps him learn better than classroom study.  WRGB

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Today, the Environmental Protection Agency plans to roll back more than two dozen rules for clean air and water that could force New York lawmakers to hold a special session later this summer to address funding gaps. Rob Hayes of Environmental Advocates NY says these moves and new state bills such as the lead pipe replacement act may put public health protections at risk.  WAMC

HEALTH NEWS

  • The New York State Department of Health will launch a lead paint rental registry in November for 25 communities of concern, including Albany, to require landlords of multi-unit buildings built before 1980 to inspect and fix lead hazards. The program marks a shift to prevent lead poisoning before children are exposed — building on the success of earlier efforts in cities like Rochester.  Times Union
