- ➤ Volunteers in Albany will join Nine Pin’s 10th annual Earth Day cleanup event on Tuesday to improve neighborhoods and support local sustainability—participants will receive free cider and non-alcoholic drinks while owner Alejandro del Pera highlighted the impact of the decade-long effort. WRGB

- ➤ The Colonie Planning Board approved a proposal on Tuesday night to build a new ALDI grocery store between 829 and 831 Loudon Road in Latham with zoning waivers and a finding of no significant environmental impact. The 20,664 square foot store will have 103 parking spaces and updated design features (such as added landscaping instead of metal panels) and will need final technical resolutions before a building permit is issued. - ➤ On April 5, police went to a home after a call about a fight and found a Selkirk man who had fired a .45 handgun and held a 13-round magazine without a permit—he faces felony charges for criminal possession of a firearm, possession of an ammunition feeding device and reckless endangerment—and his court hearing is set for May 6 with bail at $2,500 cash or $10,000 bond. - ➤ A section of Washington Avenue was closed Saturday afternoon between North Hawk Street and Eagle Street when State Police investigated the scene near the State Education Building and West Capitol Park — authorities said there is no threat and urged drivers and pedestrians to use other routes. Times Union
- ➤ Delmar police reported a series of arrests—on March 29 a 71-year-old homeless man was charged with burglary at Walmart while another suspect faced bail jumping on a 2021 warrant, and additional charges included a former clerk using a stolen credit card on April 3, a fake check incident at Berkshire Bank on April 3 with an accomplice who turned himself in, a homeless woman returned on April 5 for a 2022 Walmart larceny warrant, and on April 9 a 34-year-old man was charged with criminal mischief after using an axe at Quality Inn; several of these suspects are set to appear in court on April 1 or May 6. - ➤ Nearly 100 alumni gathered Friday by Zoom to ask the Student Association to keep the 800-acre Dippikill camp open — they noted that only 15% of students visit while it costs $320,000 next year and brings in about $150,000 annually. Students will vote on the new budget next week, a decision that could let the camp remain closed if they choose to defund it. Times Union

- ➤ The DEC said Tuesday that Lake Champlain’s native lake trout now live without added hatchery fish after over fifty years of fish stocking and sea lamprey control. The team ended trout stocking on April 10—officials will keep watching the fish numbers and work to lower sea lamprey to protect the lake. ABC NEWS 10
