  • The 10th Annual Leap for Autism in Gardiner saw over 40 skydivers jump from a plane at Skydive the Ranch and raise nearly $91k, surpassing an $85k goal to fund art, music and equine therapy for those with autism and developmental disabilities.  WRGB

  • Officials reported that ORDA venues saw record visit numbers last fiscal year with over 1.2 million ticketed visits driven by state investment and improved guest experiences, including a nine-percent rise in skiers. Local leaders said the boost in tourism added sales tax revenue to nearby communities.  WAMC

  • Albany Police Department held their annual memorial Mass Tuesday, May 5 at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church to honor 56 fallen officers + the names will be added to the New York State Police Officers Memorial at Empire State Plaza.  WAMC

  • Psychology Assistant Professor Sarah Domoff explained on Tuesday, May 5 that social media offers positive interactions like funny videos but can harm mental health through stressful news and cyberbullying in Albany. SPORTS NEWS

  • UAlbany baseball lost a close game after an early lead as Marist rallied in the second inning to hold a 12-10 win on Tuesday at McCann Baseball Field. The Great Danes will play their final home series against Binghamton May 8-10.  University at Albany
  • The University at Albany softball team earned 12 America East awards, led by freshman Katie Parisi who broke the team record in doubles and was named Rookie of the Year.   • Race certifiers Diana Bean and Jim Gilmer are mapping a new route for the Delightful Run for Women in Albany later this month because construction has disrupted the usual course. They are using specialized bikes — a method that ensures the course meets official standards.  WRGB
  • The University at Albany softball team starts its America East Championship Tournament today at 11:00 a.m. at the Pierre (Catherine Labat) Softball Complex in Orono, Maine and will seek an NCAA Tournament bid if it wins the championship game.  University at Albany
