  • NEWS10’s Cassie Hudson will visit Far Shot on May 9 to cover one of the Capital Region’s largest axe throwing venues. Far Shot, at 69 N Pearl Street, offers axe throwing, knife throwing, and archery — visitors under 18 must have parental consent — along with arcade games, food, and drinks.  ABC NEWS 10

CRIME NEWS

  • An Albany man, Charles M. McCormick, 31, was arrested in Athens after a 3:20 a.m. Sunday chase on the Thruway that exceeded 120 mph while he drove under the influence, and police seized over a gram of crack cocaine, over 140 grams of cocaine and more than 15 grams of fentanyl in his vehicle+ he faces charges including assault on a police officer, reckless endangerment and multiple drug offenses with a court appearance set for May 8.  NewsChannel 13
  • Collin Billingsley pleaded guilty to using a loaded handgun in a 2021 shooting on North Lake Ave—he faces up to 12 years in prison with sentencing scheduled for July 18 as the investigation continues.  Times Union

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The state budget voted on this week includes a provision delaying enforcement of the $35,000 income cap for lawmakers with high outside earnings for two years—an agreement reached during secret budget talks after a court ruling upheld the cap but struck down its voting penalty.  Times Union
  • Since lowering speed limits and installing speed cameras in school zones on January 1st, Albany has collected over $3.24 million from more than 107,000 speeding tickets—36,000 of which remain unpaid. Some residents say the cameras help make streets safer—while others see them as a money grab—and city officials plan to use part of the revenue for traffic calming improvements.  ABC NEWS 10
