BUSINESS NEWS

  • Troy Rewind held its soft opening at 96 Congress Street in the old Trojan Hardware building and will celebrate with a grand opening soon. The new bar serves drinks, food and retro arcade games + hosts regular gaming tournaments and trivia nights.  NewsChannel 13

CULTURE NEWS

  • Tang Museum at Skidmore College is offering free admission to active duty military and up to five family members under the Blue Star Museum program for Armed Forces Day and the summer. The museum also hosts summer events including weekly guided tours and the Upbeat on the Roof concert series every Thursday starting in July.  WRGB
  • The local Greek community welcomes visitors to the 54th Saint Sophia Greek Festival (annual) today from noon to 6 p.m. at Saint Sophia’s Church on Whitehall Road, where cultural dances and traditional foods showcase Greek heritage.  WRGB

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Middle and high school students in Cohoes volunteered last Friday on Global Youth Service Day by cleaning parks and public spaces, including Berkeley Park and the Dooley Park Bike Path — they worked in rainy weather to help improve their community.  WRGB

HEALTH NEWS

  • In Schenectady, the Sunnyview in Motion 5K, also called Walk, Roll, Run, took place Saturday, May 16 at Central Park + celebrated recovered patients from Sunnyview Rehabilitation Hospital while advancing its $30,000 fund drive.  WRGB
  • A new primary care clinic has opened in Latham for union members, offering zero-cost, same-day treatment for UA Local 7 workers and families. The clinic, launched with Marathon Health + aims to ease care delays as the union prepares for a hiring boom across the Capital Region.  WRGB
  • The VA Stratton Medical Center in Albany now offers in-home coordinator visits for older veterans and those with mobility challenges (to help with enrollment in healthcare and benefits). Outreach coordinators will visit veterans at home to ease travel burdens.  WRGB

SPORTS NEWS

  • UAlbany track and field split meet participants as throwers competed at MIT on Thursday plus runners joined the Battle Road Twilight Meet on Saturday at Morrison Track. Performances include an 800m record and a long jump mark while Great Danes prepare for the NCAA East Preliminary Round from May 27-30.  University at Albany
  • Deaf track star Calleigh Del Pozzo excelled in the Section 2 discus event at Guilderland High by relying on focus and ASL interpreters. She and her sister continue to gain local recognition for their athletic achievements.  Spotlight News
