Trinity Alliance hosted its third annual Ruby Hughes Day block party on Saturday afternoon in the South End — celebrating late community advocate Ruby Hughes — near its Trinity Place headquarters.

Simons presented a $115.1 million budget plan that needs a 60% vote on Tuesday because a 4.8% tax levy increase breaks the usual cap. Outside Albany Medical Center, Shamaya Jackson held a protest over the death of her one-month-old daughter Milani—who died after tests showed she had MRSA and E. coli following hospital admissions in late April.

She said the hospital never informed her of the infections and plans to protest every two weeks as families demand accountability.
