  • Bethlehem’s Town Planning Board approved Benderson Development LLC’s amended site plan on Tuesday, May 20 to allow a new Trader Joe’s at Glenmont Plaza. The plan converts 14,779 square feet of retail space, includes demolition of 18,175 square feet for a 49-space parking field and an outparcel expansion with a drive-up bank ATM—but final tweaks remain before demolition begins—and work is expected to start this summer.  Spotlight News

  • Albany County Sheriff Craig Apple said a 4-year-old in Berne was hospitalized on May 20 after eating two THC-infused gummy candies resembling Haribo bears from her father's lunchbox—he added that his department will investigate local dispensaries suspected of selling illicit products.  Times Union
  • Authorities are searching for 15-year-old R’moni Johnson, who was reported missing from Albany and was last seen on May 16. Community members can submit tips to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC).  WRGB
  • Local attorney Luke Malamood is set to appear in Albany County Court Thursday morning to face 21 criminal charges stemming from incidents in July 2024, December 2024, and April 2025, including counts of criminal contempt, theft, and assault.  NewsChannel 13

  • Voters in several Capital District school districts approved budgets for the 2025–26 school year on May 20 to keep current programs while funding new bus purchases and safety upgrades.   • Gulfstream Developers’ proposal for 86 tiny homes on the former Leonard Hospital site at New Turnpike Road in Troy is set for City Council review on June 5—if approved, the Planning Board may greenlight the project by June 17 to serve adults age 54 and older with green space and 137 parking spots. This innovative community will be developed on land bought for $275,000 after years of planning and review.  Times Union
