- ➤ Runners and walkers will take part in the 47th annual Delightful Run for Women — formerly known as Freihofer’s Run for Women — on Saturday as they begin at Washington Avenue and Eagle Street at 9 a.m. with a route through Washington Park while several roads are closed from Friday 7 p.m. until Saturday 6 p.m. to support community groups that raised $12,000. - ➤ WVCR 88.3 The Saint at Siena College will boost its signal from 35,000 to 50,000 watts with a $50,000 fundraiser scheduled for this weekend as part of the alumni reunion, and the station plans to extend its FM reach. General Manager Darrin Scott Kibbey said the upgrade will move the signal into regions including the Adirondacks and Mohawk valley — a change aimed at both enhancing student training and serving the community — while new equipment and funding are being secured. - ➤ On Tuesday, a 65-year-old man was seriously hurt near Purtell Avenue when he was struck around 10:12 p.m. on Old Loudon Road by an off-duty Colonie police officer’s personal vehicle — EMS treated him on scene before he was taken to Albany Medical Center — and the officer has been placed on paid administrative leave as State Police launch an investigation.
