- ➤ A man aged 65 was critically injured after being struck by a car on Old Loudon Road near Purtell Avenue at 10:12 p.m. on May 27—off-duty Colonie Police Officer Jason Tusch, who was driving his personal vehicle, stayed at the scene to help and has been placed on paid administrative leave as state police take over the investigation. - ➤ State Police arrested 58-year-old Daniel Sunkes of Cohoes on May 27 after investigating a reported sexual assault in Brunswick on May 25 at 10:00 p.m.—the victim escaped after Sunkes allegedly held them against their will and forced an ATM withdrawal, and he now faces charges of first-degree rape, fourth-degree grand larceny, and second-degree unlawful imprisonment. - ➤ Albany County District Attorney Lee C. Kindlon said 38-year-old Paul Gervasio from New Lebanon was sentenced to 10 years in prison and 5 years of post-release supervision for his role as the getaway driver in a Colonie gun store burglary on November 14, 2024 — he helped steal 14 firearms during the incident. - ➤ Early Thursday morning, a local resident reported a suspect on Sand Creek Road, and Colonie police arrested 22-year-old Omar Toney after using surveillance images and drones to secure a duffel bag of stolen property from several unlocked vehicles (he faces felony and misdemeanor charges including attempted petit larceny). - ➤ Albany County Sheriff Craig D. Apple, Sr. arrested 36-year-old Raymond Bellamy on Thursday, May 29th at approximately 2:52 p.m. after a traffic stop near Quail Street and Livingston Avenue revealed 35 grams of MDMA intended for distribution—Bellamy faces drug and traffic charges and is set to be arraigned today. - ➤ A Slingerlands man with seven previous DWI arrests—67-year-old Theodore Eckler—was arrested Saturday after Albany County DA Lee Kindlon witnessed an alcohol-related road rage incident with a bicyclist on Kenwood Avenue, and he now faces multiple felony and misdemeanor charges while also awaiting sentencing for a January offense in Bethlehem.
