  • Liz Bishop ended her role at WRGB on May 30th after 52 years as a reporter — she broke barriers and covered major events like 9/11 — and now plans to focus on serving others and finishing her book project.  WRGB

BUSINESS NEWS

  • The new Junior’s Bar & Grill opened last week at Town Center on Twenty in East Greenbush and now seats nearly 200 diners who enjoy its familiar bar fare (without pizza). BMT Hospitality plans to adjust hours on weekends based on customer demand.  Times Union

CRIME NEWS

  • A judge sentenced Lucas Healey to 22 years in prison and five years of post-release supervision for his May 29 attack on Shogun Sushi co-owner Su Wen Zheng—whose severe brain injuries have left him unable to work or perform everyday tasks.  Times Union
  • Albany police are investigating a Thursday night shooting in which a 22-year-old woman was shot in the chest while sitting in a parked vehicle near Madison Avenue and Trinity Place (11:20 p.m.), and she was treated on scene before being taken to Albany Medical Center Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.  WRGB

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Albany, Saratoga, and Warren counties said they do not consider themselves sanctuary jurisdictions after the DHS listed them on Friday, May 30, and are working with federal officials to fix the error—aiming to protect their federal funding. DHS said the list is based on factors like compliance with Federal immigration laws and may be updated at any time.  WRGB
