- ➤ At police headquarters Monday, Albany Mayor Kathy Sheehan and interim Police Chief Brendan Cox reported that overall crime was down compared to last year, with burglaries down 25%, larcenies down 26%, shootings down 63%, and both murder and sexual assaults down 50%—and city programs aimed at youth engagement will help keep crime rates low this summer. - ➤ An Albany man, Marc Inman, 55, was arrested Monday during a traffic stop near Washington Avenue and South Swan Street after deputies found one kilogram of cocaine and 1,716 bags of fentanyl in his vehicle—he faces multiple felony charges and will be arraigned Tuesday in Albany City Criminal Court. - ➤ County Executive Dan McCoy said last week that the county may soon own the former Kenwood Convent site off Route 9W if talks over $7 million in overdue property taxes succeed — Guild Ventures, which bought the property after a 2023 fire, is in ongoing negotiations with the county about its future.
