- ➤ Crews remain at a site in Albany where a historic building built in 1849 was torn down on Tuesday after heavy rainfall made its structure unsafe — Capitalize Albany Corporation said the demolition will cost $315 million and plans to ask developers for ideas on redeveloping the Liberty Park site as historic preservation efforts continue. - ➤ Albany man Patrick Dean, 38, was sentenced to up to 19 years in prison for the fatal shooting of Sky Lemmons-Dixon on Christmas Day 2023—he had pleaded guilty to second-degree manslaughter, criminal possession of a weapon, and tampering with evidence. NewsChannel 13
- ➤ Mike Abatecola bought his Lamborghini from Bul Automotive on Central Avenue in Colonie but did not pay his loan off properly — the company allegedly sold the car to someone else, leaving him with $200,000 in debt, and with FBI help he got his car back as other victims consider a class action lawsuit. - ➤ Judge William Little on Thursday sentenced Patrick Dean to at least 16 years in state prison for fatally shooting 23-year-old Sky Lemmons-Dixon on Christmas Day 2023—she died on Jan. 1 at Albany Medical Center. Times Union

- ➤ State lawmakers approved an omnibus bill today to boost prison oversight after Robert L. Brooks died at Marcy Correctional Facility and Messiah Nantwi died at Mid-State Correctional Facility, with some officers now facing charges. The bill will grow the Commission of Correction and give new powers to the watchdog—Gov. Hochul will decide by year's end whether to sign or veto it. Times Union
- ➤ Defense attorney Jasper Mills filed a federal lawsuit against former Albany County DA David Soares — along with several assistant district attorneys and a state police investigator — alleging they abused legal processes and defamed him to hurt his career after the January 2021 fatal shooting of Shanita Thomas. The suit, which seeks damages over $9 million, claims the officials withheld key witness information and ordered an unconstitutional jail cell search. Times Union
