- ➤ Boys and Girls Clubs of the Capital Area are hosting summer sports programs at their Albany and Troy clubhouses from July 7 to August 22. They are also offering a summer camp for kids ages 5 to 12 from June 7 to August 29 and free video game nights for teens at the Albany Clubhouse (21 Delaware Avenue) and the Troy Clubhouse (1700 Seventh Avenue). - ➤ Cap City Runners—co-founded by Don Applyrs and Angelo Maddox, Jr.—launched a 160-mile challenge during June to honor Juneteenth and mark 160 years since Freedom Day. The group invites everyone to run or walk the distance as a way to build community and celebrate resilience. WRGB

- ➤ A Gansevoort man, Chadd Zerniak, 35, was sentenced on Monday for burglarizing a Cumberland Farms in South Glens Falls in September & he admitted the burglary, receiving a sentence of two to four years in prison & is held in Saratoga County Jail. ABC NEWS 10

- ➤ On June 17th, two UAlbany students were honored by SUNY for excellence in the arts. Graduate student Key Bird earned a Thayer Fellowship while graduate student Yujeong Ahn received a Best of SUNY award for her work '1912'—which has been on display since December 2024 in Albany. - ➤ Henry Johnson fought off over 20 enemy soldiers in World War I and was awarded the Medal of Honor nearly 100 years later, but he remains largely unrecognized in Albany—state lawmakers are now reviewing plans to rename landmarks like the Patroon Island Bridge and the Albany International Airport to honor his bravery. - ➤ Legislators passed the Public Renewables Transparency Act on June 13 to require NYPA to publish three reports a year, create an online progress dashboard, and hold public hearings—if signed by Governor Kathy Hochul, the act will take effect immediately and help advance the state’s renewable energy goals. Lawmakers support the new measure to boost transparency as NYPA works to increase public energy projects towards a target of 15 gigawatts by 2030. ABC NEWS 10
- ➤ The New York State Legislature passed a bill that gives limited immunity to people who are sex trafficked on June 17—it now awaits Governor Kathy Hochul's review. The law is meant to help victims report crimes and get medical care without fear of arrest. WRGB
