ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Two teenagers were injured in an ATV crash just before 5 a.m. Sunday in Providence near Clark Road; a 16-year-old driver went to Albany Medical Center with a severe leg injury while her 18-year-old passenger was taken to Saratoga Hospital—sheriff's deputies are investigating the crash.  Times Union
  • Early Sunday morning, two teenagers were injured in an ATV crash in Providence— a 16-year-old girl lost control, hit an embankment, and was airlifted to Albany Medical Center for a severe lower extremity injury while an 18-year-old passenger was taken by ambulance to Saratoga Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries—authorities are investigating the incident.  ABC NEWS 10
  • A 16-year-old riding an ATV was thrown off and airlifted to Albany Medical Center for a serious leg injury while an 18-year-old passenger received treatment for less serious injuries after the ATV crashed off Clark Road in Providence early Sunday morning — investigators are still probing the crash — the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office reports.  NewsChannel 13
  • Rescue crews in Troy today rescued an injured hiker at Burden Pond Reserve near a waterfall roughly 600 feet from the trailhead by using ropes to pull her up steep terrain while Troy Police escorted her child to safety—Troy Mayor Mantello advised residents not to enter the area due to dangerous water conditions.  NewsChannel 13

  • Mohawk Hudson Humane Society asked for donations after officers rescued 22 dogs, 15 horses and a cow from a Westerlo property on June 19 (with care costs estimated at $50,000 monthly) as legal proceedings continue.  Times Union
  • A Greenfield man, Frederick A. Caldwell III, was charged with DWI—and additional offenses—for operating a utility side-by-side that crashed with a vehicle on Locust Grove Road at 2:40 a.m. Saturday, injuring two passengers who were taken to a hospital for treatment.  WRGB

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk Board of Education named Craig P. Chandler as the new superintendent of schools as outgoing Dr. Brian Bailey ended his 15-year tenure—Chandler, a former principal at Mohonasen High, will start a three-year contract on July 1 and plans to meet the school community later this summer.  Spotlight News

  • At the annual Starbuck Luncheon on Saturday, local leaders were honored for their efforts to promote equality and inclusivity. Jannie Daggs was recognized posthumously for her work in the state assembly while Mayor Kathy Sheehan received a lifetime achievement award and Saratoga County Supervisor Matt Veitch and junior Arissa Gillani were also honored.  WRGB

  • Eddie Yamin, a La Salle grad who played at Dayton, joined LSU after coach Jay Johnson convinced him and helped the Tigers win a 5-3 national title on June 22 in Omaha—he plans to return to playing in 2026.  Times Union
