Good morning, Albany.

Gas prices in Albany are averaging $4.02 per gallon for regular gas, down 18.4 cents from last week and 51 cents lower than last month according to GasBuddy, which expects prices to drift lower this week as easing Middle Eastern tensions help keep oil costs steady.

Albany city leaders warned residents that fireworks and sparklers are illegal and dangerous ahead of the July 4 weekend.

They urged families to leave displays to licensed professionals and report any illegal sales to authorities (tip resources are available) for a safer holiday.

Local officials in Voorheesville are working to improve train track safety (adding new signals and upgraded barriers) to reduce car-train collisions and protect drivers.

The safety measures are planned to be introduced soon.
