ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Coeymans Police responded to a truck crash on Wednesday near Main Street and Russell Avenue—53-year-old Ravena resident was struck by a pickup truck while crossing the intersection and was taken to Albany Medical Center for treatment, and the driver was ticketed for failing to use due care.  ABC NEWS 10

CRIME NEWS

  • The Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the murder of 18-year-old Christina White from Milton who was last seen on June 30, reported missing on July 3 and had her remains found in the spring of 2006 identified by DNA, and anyone with information should call Senior Investigator Robinson at (518) 885-6761.  WRGB
  • Saul Morales-Garcia pleaded guilty to Menacing in the Second Degree, a class A misdemeanor — he will serve 90 days in the county facility — after he threatened U.S. Attorney John Sarcone III with a knife at 9:55 p.m. June 17 near 40 Lodge Street in Albany.  WRGB
  • Jonte Wunner of Monticello was sentenced to 35 years in prison on Thursday for fatally shooting 49-year-old Mohammed Poquee during a party argument at the Ida Yarborough Apartments on North Pearl Street in Albany last October—prosecutors said evidence showed Poquee was unarmed despite Wunner’s self-defense claim and he declined to speak at sentencing.  ABC NEWS 10
  • On Thursday, Albany Police responded at 1:40 a.m. to a shooting on Lark Drive near Manning Boulevard when a 20-year-old man on a residence's steps was hit by gunfire in his shoulder, buttocks and legs, and a Pitbull was struck in its neck and leg—he was taken to Albany Medical Center Hospital in stable condition while the dog later died after treatment at a Latham veterinary hospital.  NewsChannel 13

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • New York faces allegations of Medicaid mismanagement when a House Oversight Committee letter claims the state withheld federal funds meant for local health providers. The letter—signed by Rep. James Comer and two New York GOP members—asks the Hochul administration to produce all related documents by July 16.  Times Union
  • Today, Governor Hochul marked the completion of the 25M Lincoln Park Pool rehabilitation in Albany, supported by 10M from the NY SWIMS initiative that funded several pool projects statewide. The upgraded facility now offers a zero-entry pool, a half Olympic lap pool, a splash pad and improved restrooms, providing the South End with a modern, accessible spot for summer recreation.  WRGB
