  • On Saturday, horse racing fans gathered at the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame in Saratoga for the Saturday Morning Social—a free two-hour event with meet and greets, racing seminars and complimentary coffee and doughnuts—co-organized by the New York Thoroughbred Horsemen's Association and the New York Thoroughbred Breeders to celebrate the museum’s 75th anniversary.  WRGB

CRIME NEWS

  • A mass shooting on Livingston Avenue in Albany's Arbor Hill neighborhood injured four teenagers and one adult early Saturday morning at about 1:10 a.m.—all were taken to Albany Medical Center.  WRGB
  • Bethlehem police arrested Mandy Brown on June 17 for allegedly taking $145,485.57 from a local medical practice by overpaying herself—she will return to court on July 15.  Spotlight News
  • On July 5, Albany Mayor Kathy Sheehan and Police Chief Brendan Cox held a press conference at the Albany Police Department headquarters to address shootings that occurred on July 4 — officials said further details will follow.  ABC NEWS 10
  • Late Friday night, Albany police reported that on the 300 block of Madison Avenue near South Swan Street at about 10 p.m., a flare gun fired into a residence ignited a full fire before handgun shots wounded four people, including a 17-year-old in critical condition plus three others with leg injuries, and while victims were being taken to Albany Medical Center an ambulance struck a parked car, injuring a police officer’s leg plus the investigation is underway.  NewsChannel 13

  • Alive at Five moved its free music concerts from Jennings Landing to Tricentennial Park, and on June 26 Emo Night brought many people downtown — several local businesses saw more customers afterward. City leaders and local promoters plan new events this summer to keep downtown busy — they hope better weather and strong promotions will boost support for the area.  Times Union
