- ➤ The Lincoln Park Pool reopened on Saturday after two days of closure for an equipment installation; it operated from 1 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. for Albany residents on a first-come basis—featuring a zero-entry pool, a 10-lane half-size Olympic lap pool, a splash pad, and water slides. ABC NEWS 10
- ➤ Pastor Charlie Muller of Victory Church launched a summer outreach program at Black Lives Matter Park—offering weekly giveaways of about 50 bikes and 25 pairs of sneakers to local kids—to boost community safety after recent Fourth of July violence. He said the program will run throughout the summer and he hopes city leaders will give more support. WRGB

- ➤ An Albany man, 22-year-old Romario Hall, was indicted for first-degree burglary, attempted second-degree burglary and criminal possession of stolen property after he stole a car and broke into a Guilderland home on June 23rd plus attacked the homeowner during a struggle that led a nearby resident to help subdue him until police arrived and he pleaded not guilty at his arraignment before Judge Thomas Marcelle when he was jailed in Albany County. - ➤ An Albany couple, Byron Brown, 45, and Rena Brown, 42, was arraigned on felony charges after a parole check on Feb. 10 at their Bunker Lane home found a loaded semi-automatic handgun, psilocybin mushrooms, and over 300 pounds of marijuana — Rena was released on bond while Byron was sent to jail. - ➤ Albany police said 13 flare gun incidents occurred from July 1, 2024 to July 7, 2025 with more than half involving minors and including a July 4 event where two 15-year-olds were charged with attempted second-degree murder — lawmakers now propose stricter laws on flare gun sales and use. - ➤ On Saturday, police searched a Lansingburgh home at 6 105th St. after reports of loose dogs and found one dead dog and several in poor condition—some of which were sent to a local animal hospital for treatment. Times Union

- ➤ Planned Parenthood clinics maintained Medicaid care after a new federal law cut Medicaid funding for one year, so they halted billing until the state covers its share+.
