- ➤ 35-year-old Brittany Hawkins was sentenced before Judge Andra Ackerman on Wednesday to 25 years in prison and 5 years probation for intentionally striking her neighbor Daquon Phillips (28) near Upper Sky Line Apartments on October 31, causing his death at Albany Medical Center. ABC NEWS 10
- ➤ Albany attorney Luke Malamood pleaded guilty to assault and criminal contempt on July 16, 2025 in Albany County Court and will be sentenced on Sept. 24, facing up to four years in prison and three years of parole. Times Union
- ➤ A South Carolina woman was sentenced to five months in jail for threatening to kill a Catskill man via Facebook Messenger + she admitted sending hate-filled messages and will serve six months of house arrest followed by three years of probation. ABC NEWS 10

- ➤ The Albany Public Library has expanded its Museum and Adventure Pass program so patrons can now reserve discounted passes online and book movie seats at Madison Theater—this change makes it easier for residents to plan visits with a reservation limit of three passes at a time and tickets available for two days each week. - ➤ The Pine Hills Land Authority board voted 5 to 1 to begin talks with Albany County over buying five buildings on the 26.5-acre former College of Saint Rose campus. Some community leaders, including a neighborhood association president who voted against the measure, urged more engagement as the county plans a mixed-use project—potentially adding restaurants, apartments and offices—with further details expected soon.
