CRIME NEWS

  • On Monday, June 30, a late‑night larceny at CVS on Delaware Avenue turned serious when an officer drew his service weapon after one suspect turned away and reached toward his waistband—leading to the arrest of both men who were charged with petit larceny and conspiracy, with one later facing additional charges for forgery and criminal impersonation.  Spotlight News
  • Gunshots were heard on the south side of Washington Park before 6 p.m. today — police detained several people of interest and reported no victims.  WRGB

CULTURE NEWS

  • Historic La Serre is being revived as an exclusive members-only club at 14 Green Street in downtown Albany. Restaurateur Todd Shapiro partnered with Greg Caggiano and Todd Miller of Miller – Caggiano to purchase the building and will hold a preview event in Fall 2025 to offer private dining and curated events.  WRGB

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The New York State Police honored fallen Trooper Paul Ashburn on the 42nd anniversary of his death — he died on July 26, 1983 when a truck struck him during a traffic stop near Albany while on duty.  WRGB
  • Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer said he secured $90 million for the National Guard so the 42nd Infantry Division can move from its Troy home to a new facility in Colonie on the site of the former Heritage Park baseball stadium. Adjutant General Raymond Shields explained the division will relocate because its current space does not meet Army requirements.  WAMC
  • The Capital District Transportation Authority will change several bus routes across the Capital Region in August after reviewing rider feedback and ridership trends. The adjustments will take effect on August 24 so riders should check updated schedules on the CDTA website (including route modifications and frequency reductions).  ABC NEWS 10

  • An Air Quality Health Advisory is in effect for the lower Hudson Valley, upper Hudson Valley and Adirondacks until 11:59 p.m. today due to high fine particulate matter from wildfires in Canada — officials advise residents to reduce outdoor activities to avoid health risks.  ABC NEWS 10
