- ➤ Lucky Puppy Rescue in Argyle struggled this summer when its bus began to break down as it saved dogs from Florida, and operations manager Andrea Orta said a new bus was needed. Saratoga homeowner Dave Portnoy & owner of Barstool Sports donated funds through his Lucky One Lemonade brand to cover the cost of a replacement bus. NewsChannel 13
- ➤ Bethlehem’s Hannaford supermarket posthumously honored Nah’Quis Williams—an Albany native who worked six years as a shelf stocker despite being deaf and nonverbal—by awarding him the 'Power of You' honor. Williams died on May 25 at an Albany group home and his funeral was held at St. John’s Church of God in Christ. Times Union
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ On Friday morning, a New York State Police trooper was hit in their vehicle during a traffic stop on the Thruway near Exit 22 — the trooper sustained non-life-threatening injuries while neither driver was hurt and authorities advised motorists to take alternate routes due to the blocked lane. - ➤ On August 5, lifeguards at Elm Avenue Town Park’s pool pulled a 26-year-old swimmer from the water after he was found without a pulse and started CPR right away—he was revived at Albany Medical Center and is now home recovering. Spotlight News

- ➤ Thomas Cipriano, 53, a ride share driver from Halfmoon, was arrested in Clifton Park on August 1 on charges of attempted rape of a child and unlawful imprisonment—further court actions are pending. ABC NEWS 10

- ➤ UAlbany honored more than 50 scholars at the IFW Summer Celebration held July 31 at the Campus Center—over $30,000 in awards supported research and professional development. - ➤ Albany International Airport finished the first phase of its Concourse A renovation—adding two new jet bridge-equipped gates, updated flooring, seating with power outlets, ceiling designs and lighting—as flights from Allegiant and United Airlines took off Wednesday morning. Future plans include further upgrades at Gates A3 and A6, enhanced restrooms, a children's play area and expanded waiting areas. WRGB
