ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ After an electrical fire hit Tivoli Park Apartment Complex on Livingston Avenue last week, residents said management did not act fast enough to fix the damage—Albany’s code department has given the owner until August 26 to repair the unsafe apartments. WAMC
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Two people were arrested after four cats were found dead and two other cats plus two dogs were left without food in a Guilderland apartment—investigators said the suspects were evicted on August 20, taken into custody on August 22 and will appear in town court on September 4. ABC NEWS 10
- ➤ Acting United States Attorney John A. Sarcone III and FBI Albany Special Agent in Charge Craig L. Tremaroli announced that Operation Tidal Wave—a three-day, multi-agency effort—resulted in one of the largest firearms seizures in the Northern District as over 200 officers from more than 20 agencies worked together. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Today, city crews are repaving Manning Boulevard and replacing old lead service lines along Western Avenue to improve safety — steps welcomed by residents and city leaders amid ongoing flooding concerns. The project, funded with federal dollars, is part of Albany’s wider effort to update its aging roadways. WRGB
- ➤ City crews have been digging Albany streets to replace lead water service lines and improve pedestrian safety. Mayor Kathy Sheehan said on Friday that the city will add new features — 75 street humps, high visibility crosswalks, and trees — this year using $12 million in grants while aiming to replace thousands of pipes to meet federal mandates by November 1.
