CRIME NEWS

  • A Hoosick Falls woman, Kaila Crawford, was arrested after officers found five malnourished dogs and children in unsafe conditions in her home — she now faces 5 counts of animal cruelty and 2 counts of endangering the welfare of a child.  ABC NEWS 10
  • A 33-year-old Schenectady man, Jabree Jones — known as Breezy — pleaded guilty to drug trafficking and gun crimes after a search in Albany and Halfmoon found dozens of firearms and large amounts of fentanyl, cocaine and methamphetamine used in his conspiracy from January to May 2023.  NewsChannel 13
  • A 32-year-old man named Parrish Butler received nine years in prison and five years probation after pleading guilty to drug and weapon charges from a police raid on February 26—he admitted to possessing illegal drugs, a ghost gun, and high-capacity magazines at his home.  ABC NEWS 10

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Albany has restored its school zone cameras to full-time operation for the upcoming school year—running Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. and reminding drivers to follow speed limits in school zones.  ABC NEWS 10

HEALTH NEWS

  • As students return to classrooms, health officials warn that falling vaccination rates from 95% to 92% may make outbreaks of measles and whooping cough more likely — pediatricians urge parents to talk with them for accurate advice.  WRGB

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • City officials in Troy approved a proposal to build 86 tiny homes on the Leonard Hospital lot for residents aged 55 and older with market-rate rents of $1,700 to $2,000. Construction will begin in October and some homes will be ready by next summer (the project includes a community pavilion and outdoor amenities).  ABC NEWS 10
