  • Watervliet Police arrested two men on Sunday night when a traffic stop led to the discovery of ghost guns in their vehicle+both now face charges for criminal possession of a weapon and firearm violations.  ABC NEWS 10

EDUCATION NEWS

  • UAlbany freshman Zainab Alfatlawi plans to become an ophthalmologist to honor her blind mother's legacy—she grew up quickly after immigrating from Iraq and began classes last week while volunteering with NABA to help others with vision challenges.  Times Union
  • Today, the local knitting group Chicks with Sticks from Glenmont donated 144 items—including hats, scarves, cowls, headbands, and ear warmers—to Albany High School’s Falcon Boutique at 10:00 a.m., where the store provides free clothing and snacks to support nearly 71% economically disadvantaged students.  WRGB
  • Amanda Keil, Co-Head of Brown School, advised parents to ease back-to-school worries by discussing the full school day, planning extra time in the morning, setting a way to stay in touch without cell phones, and confirming after-school pickup arrangements—steps that help children and parents start the year with clear expectations.
