  • Today, Active Ingredient Brewing Company held a fundraiser in Malta where every sale of Amber Embers beer added a $2 donation to support both Malta Ridge and Round Lake fire departments — the campaign surpassed its $1,400 goal for each group. The nearly year-long effort, inspired by firefighter Jeff Stack, raised almost $6,000 to help cover the high costs of equipment like fire trucks and gear.  ABC NEWS 10
  • At the Guilderland Farmers Market, families met pit bulls at an adoption event hosted by Out of the Pits—designed to change their tough image. Foster coordinator Jen Dalton said the group is working after rescuing dogs from Oklahoma to find them loving homes.  WRGB

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Three juveniles were injured in a UTV crash on Sunday afternoon in Berne when deputies responded at about 3:40 pm on County Route 6, with two sustaining broken femurs and one hurt; one was flown by helicopter and the others transported by ambulance to Albany Medical Center.  WRGB

CRIME NEWS

  • An Albany woman with a record of larcenies was arrested on Saturday, Aug. 23 at 5:15 p.m. at Walmart on Route 9W in Glenmont—she was found with stolen meat and eggs, had an outstanding warrant from Colonie, and faces charges of burglary, petit larceny, and bail jumping with a court appearance on Sept. 16.  Spotlight News

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Egg is closed for its first major renovation that began on July 1 and will cost $19.5 million; state officials say the venue will reopen next spring with new seating, lighting and improved accessibility—preserving its historic roots. The project marks the first prolonged interior overhaul and rebranding of the beloved arts venue.  Times Union

FINANCE NEWS

  • Twenty $50k Powerball tickets won third prize in New York, including one sold at Stewart's Shops in Chatham in the Capital Region. The state lottery announced the winners Sunday after the drawing on September 6—tickets were also sold in places like Brooklyn, Manhattan and Yonkers.  WRGB

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Crews are working to repair a water main break on Maiden Lane in Albany while water service remains interrupted to properties between Broadway and South Pearl Street—Commissioner Joseph Coffey said crews will stay at the scene until repairs are complete.
