- ➤ National Grid is installing smart meters at local gas and electric customers' homes and has mailed notices that explain residents who opt out will face an added monthly fee. - ➤ The New York State Office of General Services is hosting a public workshop Wednesday at the Empire State Plaza Food Court from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.—attendees are encouraged to register early as space is limited and free light refreshments will be served.
