- ➤ The Arc Lexington will host the Lexington Night Out Gala this Friday night at the Paul Nigra Center for Creative Arts in Gloversville to raise funds for over 1300 people with developmental disabilities in Albany, Fulton and Schoharie counties. - ➤ Washington Park in Albany is being updated into an inclusive space as officials reconstruct the playground for all ages and launch a traffic pilot program this Fall — the changes include narrowing street entrances to improve child safety. - ➤ Albany High School’s cosmetology students will host free clinics for city residents aged 55 and up until April 2026—appointments and consultations are needed for some services. ABC NEWS 10
- ➤ Some Capital Region high schools earned national awards for being inclusive when the Special Olympics of North America named them Unified Champion Schools. Scotia-Glenville, Broadalbin-Perth, Shaker and Lake George Junior-Senior High earned banners for their unified sports programs while Amsterdam High School renewed its award — a sign of strong teamwork — that shows their commitment to inclusion. - ➤ Parents are facing new challenges as smartphones are banned during school hours, so they must reset screen time rules when the new school year begins. - ➤ Downtown Albany is transforming as First Columbia begins a new mixed-use office building on Broadway with modern office space, apartments, and a 5,000-square-foot restaurant.
