- ➤ On Sunday, children and adults raced at The Crossings of Colonie in the annual Crossings 5K Challenge and Kids Run to raise funds for the Colonie Youth Center’s childcare and recreation programs—local winners were celebrated after the race. Times Union

- ➤ The Arch Stanton Quartet will hold a series of free performances at libraries across Albany County inspired by Paul Bowles' novel The Sheltering Sky. - ➤ A New York court ordered state cannabis regulators to temporarily stop enforcing a stricter rule on how close marijuana dispensaries can be to schools so that 152 businesses and applicants may use the older door-to-door measurement standard until February 15. - ➤ On September 25, a Third Department Appellate Division panel rejected Jackson Demolition Services’ request to pause demolition of Central Warehouse while a lawsuit over the contract is pending. HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Albany Med Health System has started a $25 million expansion at Greene Medical Arts in Catskill—this project will bring the area its first same-day surgery center with four new operating rooms and two procedure rooms. The work will also add advanced cardiac care and other services and is set to finish in 2027. WRGB
- ➤ The New York State Department of Health will distribute $19.5 million to 21 groups to boost health care education—helping schools, hospitals and centers offer tutoring, advising and tuition aid for up to five years. The awards are part of a program aimed at reducing barriers so more students complete their health care training. WRGB
REAL ESTATE NEWS
- ➤ Whiteman Osterman & Hanna LLP will become the main tenant in Albany’s first new office tower in 20 years at 705 Broadway—where the firm will consolidate its satellite offices—and will create more than 200 professional jobs downtown. The project includes a PILOT agreement, parking arrangements with the Albany Parking Authority, and plans for a public restaurant and coffee shop. WAMC
