- ➤ The Bus Stop Club, a Capital Region nonprofit that helps siblings of children with chronic illnesses or disabilities, marks 20 years and will host events like a trip to Radio City Music Hall Rocket Show and Santa’s Magical Express in October and November — Executive Director Angela Tobin discussed the milestone on CBS6 Morning show. - ➤ Residents at the Amsdell Apartments in Albany formed a tenants union to demand that management fix ongoing safety issues at the Jay Street property—issues such as mold, faulty sprinkler systems, and ineffective fire escapes that led 80% of tenants to seek representation. Management has cleared fire egresses while code enforcement has cited NCG Jay LLC and set a deadline in November for corrections. WRGB
- ➤ Capital District Latinos held a Hispanic Heritage Month event featuring cultural performances by youth and families in traditional clothing & a group photo display, while working with the Red Cross to offer a quick blood donation drive with free merchandise and gift cards. - ➤ Price Chopper bought Latham Liquors in September in the Latham plaza at 873 Loudon Road—its first liquor store purchase. The store operates on a temporary license valid through March 14 while the chain awaits a full license. Times Union
- ➤ The Book House will close its current space on Dec. 28th and reopen in a new location at Stuyvesant Plaza on Jan. 2nd, 2026 — the independent bookstore of 50 years will move only a two-minute walk to continue serving regular customers with a refreshed layout and a dedicated children’s area.
