- ➤ Lamar Advertising is honoring Capital Region veterans by dedicating six billboards throughout Albany as part of its Heroes Across America campaign. The displays will run through Nov. 14 and submissions for entries will be accepted until Nov. 12+ the billboards are located on I-90 near Everett Road, Route 9 near Boght Corners, I-787 near I-90, I-890 near Broadway, and Route 9 near Church Hill Road. - ➤ Today, while snow fell, Albany Police Department set up a pop-up at Lincoln Park to distribute free grocery bags amid a government shutdown. - ➤ A Capital Region mall is offering local veterans special savings today at Crossgates Mall with deals including complimentary lunch at 110 Grill—offers extend to free entrée at Dave and Buster’s, a free donut at Dunkin’, free coffee at Starbucks and movie tickets at Regal for select showings. - ➤ Starting in the 2027-28 school year, New York will require students to learn about personal finance including budgeting, money management, and credit skills, with basics taught by the end of fourth grade—approved by the Board of Regents amid a push from state officials for financial literacy.
