- ➤ Veteran groups are asking residents to sponsor $17 wreaths for more than 17,000 graves at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery at 2009 Duell Road in Schuylerville, and 10,141 wreaths have been funded so far—volunteers will begin laying them at 11 a.m. Dec. 13. Times Union
- ➤ On Monday, Crossgates Mall welcomed two certified security K-9s—Nova, who assists in conducting searches, and Sasha, trained to detect explosives—to boost mall safety; both canines earned certification through national police canine associations. ABC NEWS 10

- ➤ Dozens of county, state and local business representatives toured GE Vernova’s new advanced research center in Niskayuna where experts discussed sustainable energy solutions and plans to scale Direct Air Capture technology to remove carbon dioxide from the air. - ➤ Local grocery stores show varied prices for a full Thanksgiving dinner, with costs ranging from about $72.64 at Whole Foods to $31.00 at Aldi. - ➤ Siena University’s ninth president, Father Kevin Mackin, died on Saturday at age 87—he led the school from 1996 to 2007, oversaw key building projects and academic programs, and was remembered for his kindness and deep faith. WAMC
- ➤ UAlbany held its annual STEM and Nanotechnology Family Day on November 17th, welcoming hundreds of students and families to try over 20 hands-on science activities at its ETEC building—tours of high-tech labs and interactive exhibits added to the day’s excitement. University at Albany

- ➤ Environmental, charity and civic groups released a survey showing that 90% of nearly 300 retailers did not post the required Bottle Bill sign as law calls for—prompting them to send a letter to Gov Hochul asking for better enforcement and updates to the law so consumers can easily get their nickel deposit back. The groups said the missing signs make it hard for shoppers to learn their rights when returning beverage containers. WAMC
- ➤ A federal judge granted preliminary approval to a settlement in a class action suit against DuPont for water contamination hurting Hoosick Falls residents; notices for filing claims will be sent by mail in early December and info sessions are planned on Jan 21 and Jan 22—this settlement adds $27 million to over $65 million already recovered. - ➤ Federal changes to hemp regulations passed last week may soon ban THC products derived from hemp from store fronts, forcing business owners to either wind down operations or lobby for a change—businesses are already feeling the pressure as New York hit $2 billion in legal cannabis sales and local dispensaries offer judging kits for the Cannabis Cup through January 7. - ➤ Members of the NEWS10 team, including Matt Mackie, Kevin Appleby, and Ryan Peterson, are keeping No Shave November alive to raise funds for the local American Cancer Society (ACS).
