COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The Albany Train Show brought holiday cheer with over 100 tables of model trains at the Polish Community Center on Washington Ave. Extension— it will return next March with more displays for collectors and new fans.  WRGB
  • Donations from this year's Troy Turkey Trot will help Joseph's House & Shelter provide food, clothing and shelter to homeless people in Troy. The outreach team drives around looking for those in need and their work has changed lives — a clear reminder of the event's impact before winter arrives.  ABC NEWS 10
  • Today, dozens of local musicians will jam for the 'Musicians on a Mission' fundraiser at the Capital District Irish American Association to support the Capital City Rescue Mission + a nonprofit with over 75 years of service. The event runs from 1:30 to 8 p.m. + each $25 donation provides 10 meals for those in need.  WAMC

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Today, the state unveiled its first adult transitional home in Rexford (a new facility for people with developmental disabilities) to provide intensive services. The center will help residents move to community-based living (with comprehensive support programs available).  The Daily Gazette

SPORTS NEWS

  • Turnovers cost the Niskayuna football team the Class A regional championship on Friday, Nov 22, when Cornwall beat them 34–28. Niskayuna turned the ball over four times – including a critical punt fumble – which doomed their chance to tie the game late in the fourth quarter.  ABC NEWS 10
  • The University at Albany football team shocked the FCS world when it defeated nationally ranked Monmouth — winning 31-24 at Casey Stadium in Albany — to finish its season.  University at Albany
  • UAlbany lost a close America East Championship match to UMBC 3-1 in four sets at Chesapeake Employers Insurance Arena when outside hitter Shynelle Woroniuk recorded a career-high 24 kills plus both Tori Wilson and Woroniuk were named to the All-Championship team. The loss ended the Great Danes’ season.  University at Albany
  • The UAlbany Great Danes women’s basketball team won 62 to 53 against St. Bonaventure on Saturday afternoon at the Reilly Center with six players scoring at least seven points and a team total of 12 assists. Sophomore Delanie Hill led with 15 points and four assists — the team will return home for their game against RPI on November 26.  University at Albany
