ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • State Police responded to several Northway crashes — Saratoga County police urged drivers to avoid the highway in both directions as they investigate the incidents.  WRGB

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Palo Alto-based xLight received $150 million from the government to build a particle accelerator at Albany NanoTech—this project will boost EUV chip research and help attract private funds. The facility is under construction and is expected to be completed by 2028—officials say the investment shows strong support for advanced semiconductor manufacturing.  Times Union

CULTURE NEWS

  • The newly renovated Troy Savings Bank Music Hall will host the two-time Grammy Award-winning Albany Symphony for holiday performances on December 13 and 14 — the program will feature Haydn’s 'Surprise' Symphony, Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 20 in d minor, Bach’s Brandenburg Concerto No. 5, and the world premiere by 14-year-old Isaac Thomas. Families will also enjoy the Capital Region’s beloved Magic of the Season on December 7.  WAMC

EDUCATION NEWS

  • On December 14th at 1 p.m. the Underground Railroad Education Center presents Arias in the Afternoon: Lifting Every Voice at the New York State Museum—this event features MC Rex Smith and Daniel Pascoe Aguilar performing Handel’s Messiah alongside the Smithsonian’s Voices and Votes exhibit to highlight a reexamined history. The event supports efforts to educate about and remember our shared past.  WAMC
  • The University at Albany is featured in Season 15 of The College Tour, which will stream on Amazon Prime Video on Dec. 4. Earlier this fall the school held a purple carpet launch event in its Campus Center Ballroom where students shared their campus experiences — adding context to the episode.  University at Albany

  • Nancy Kroll, a Rotterdam resident and longtime teacher in the East Greenbush School District known for her record-setting wins in golf, died at 62 after a 17-month battle with cancer — she earned seven NEWGA championships spanning 31 years and was a cherished advocate of women’s golf.  Times Union
