- ➤ Operation Santa’s S.L.E.D. hosted a gift delivery parade in Watervliet on Thursday to support Hunter Etman, a 6-year-old fighting a brain tumor & to show local first responders and the sheriff's office that his community stands with him. WRGB
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Firefighters responded to a smoke alarm at Corning Tower on Friday evening when alarms went off on the 44th floor due to a small fire from a portable fan unit, quickly extinguishing the blaze at 1 Corning Tower with no injuries reported. WRGB
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ CDTA launched a pilot program on Monday, Dec. 15 to allow strollers on select bus routes + easing travel for riders with young children. The Daily Gazette
- ➤ New York State now offers Gold Star family license plates to any immediate family member of soldiers killed in action after local supporters and state officials expanded the program. Families can now apply to honor loved ones following a two-year advocacy effort. WAMC
- ➤ National Grid deployed 2,300 specialists after a severe windstorm to restore power in upstate New York. By 3 p.m. Friday, service had been restored for over 54,000 of nearly 66,000 affected customers + crews continued working on repairs at main transmission facilities and clearing fallen power lines.
